sustrans - The potential for autonomous vehicles offers many advantages to a rural area allowing people to travel easily especially those who are unable to drive (a particular problem as we get older). However, will this mean we will use a vehicle to get everywhere? This could have a significant effect on peoples health as we lose fitness. It's therefore essential that we build exercise into our daily lives now and the best way to do this is by active travel, walking and cycling to places we need to go to. For Monmouthshire that means building good walking and cycling networks in our towns and promoting there use, designing our towns for pepole and not cars.
